Born in 1940 in Vijes, Valle del Cauca, Colombia, Alfredo Izquierdo S. discovered his passion for drawing and painting early in life. This fervor led him to New York in 1963, where he studied at the prestigious School of Visual Arts. Under the mentorship of art masters like Burne Hogarth and Eugene Karlim, Alfredo honed his skills in illustration and painting.
During his time in New York, Alfredo worked as a freelance designer for prominent advertising agencies and graphic design studios, gaining invaluable experience over nine years. Upon returning to Colombia, he immersed himself in the advertising world, eventually founding his own successful agency, Nucleo C&M.
After nearly two decades in advertising, Alfredo shifted his focus entirely to painting. His works have earned him numerous accolades, including first prizes and honorable mentions at national and Pan-American graphic arts contests and biennials. In 2023, his captivating pieces were showcased at the prestigious Cali Departmental Library, followed by an invitation to exhibit at the University Libre de Cali in 2024.
Inspired by masters like Botero, Dalí, and Picasso, Alfredo explores preciosity and surrealistic painting, creating works that narrate his own rich history. Deeply influenced by the vibrant culture and landscapes of his beloved Colombia, his art reflects the country's unique spirit and beauty, offering viewers an immersive experience that blends personal narrative with national pride.
At 84, Alfredo continues to innovate, especially with acrylic paintings on canvas, aiming to delight art lovers with his deeply experienced and passionately crafted art.
